"Our First Garden"

In 2020 my family and I moved from SF to a rural area and planted our very first garden. It was plundered by all of the wildlife in our area. We installed chicken wire, however, deer jumped the barriers late in the season and devoured ALL of our very large ripe strawberries. We were introduced to such creatures as the tomato worm, also known as the five-spotted hawkmoth. It's gigantic and my son enjoyed trapping it in jars and watching it nibble tomatoes. Several other critters had their share. This illustration was inspired by that summer.
